Is there a story behind this lovely fruit?

Wow, you're quick Reed! You commented before I had a chance to type in the text!

My sister introduced honeycrisp apples to me just last year. I'm not sure why I never came across them before either. Probably because they cost so much I just pass over them in the produce department. They are the best though!

Can't believe you are just now discovering the magic of the honeycrisp apple. You are correct. They are, in fact, delicious. Red Delicious is a misnomer. It should be Red Looks Delicious But Tastes Like Wax Covered Water Logged Sponge.

If you haven't discovered the magic of the Heirloom Tomato you should definitely get involved. They're circus freak in appearance but taste good enough to eat like an apple.

I concur with the fellow named Douglas. Honeycrisp apples kick the crap out of the seriously misnamed "Red Delicious" apples.
