Where to Eat Play and Run In Midtown Manhattan

New York New York!

I went to NYC in May for a girl’s trip and had the best time. My sister-in-law took me for an early birthday gift trip – thanks Julie I love you! I also love and miss this city so much. Fun fact, I am technically a New Yorker because I was born in New York State.  I grew up in North Jersey and the hospital I was born at was across the border in New York State so technically I am a New Yorker even though I technically grew up in New Jersey. The cool thing to do when you are a teenager in New Jersey is go into “THE CITY”.  That is what we all did growing up. To see Broadways shows, go to bars (sssshhh don’t tell my mom).  I also lived in Midtown Manhattan for 2 years after I graduated college!  I made the most of it, went out every night and some how managed to wake up for work the next day after going to bed at 4 am. Now that I am older it is a little harder to stay out that late, but we did the first night we were there! Ok this trip was a fancy one and not low budget, but I felt like I was living my Samantha Sex in the City life.

EAT

Brunch at Sarabeth’s right near Central Park.  Central Park South (sarabethsrestaurants.com)

Wear your cutest Sundress and get ready to have a boozy brunch.  Also, there are a few Sarabeth’s in the city so make sure you make a reservation at the correct one. There was still a wait when we were there so we went next door to Gabriel’s to have a glass of pink prosecco before our meal 😊 Gabriel's bar and restaurant | 40 Central Park South (gabrielsbarandrest.com) I had an amazing omelet and glass of Rose at brunch but you really can’t go wrong with anything you order there.

PLAY

on Broadway and see a play. We saw Hadestown and really enjoyed it.  The music is so catchy you will be singing it for days.  Hadestown | Official Site Broadway is such a magical place and has so much history and will forever be in my heart. https://www.broadway.com/ When I was little, we used to go in the city to see shows with my Grandma – we called her Gar.  The singing, the dancing the acting is incredible.  These talented professionals were out of work for so long because of Covid so I really hope as many people go and see shows and help keep these amazing people employed. I prefer booking tickets ahead of time but if you want to get discounted tickets for shows that aren’t sold out the same day you can go to TKTS.  https://www.tdf.org/nyc/7/TKTS-ticket-booths

STAY

at the Ritz Carlton Central Park https://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/new-york/central-park I think that was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.  We had a view of the park from our room.  My sister-in-law always stays there when she visits NYC and now, I know why!!! Amazing rooms, the bar downstairs was beautiful and had great cocktails.  I felt so safe there and the doormen and concierge were so friendly and helpful.  It is centrally located, and Central Park is literally right across the street.  They also have an amazing gym you can take virtual fitness classes in. You can’t go wrong.

RUN

across the street in Central Park – feel like a New Yorker!!! Absorb the city culture and go for a walk or run in Central Park. Every day we were there we got our steps in and went for a walk or run.   Fun Fact – Central Park was the first landscaped public park in the United States. I love spending time in there and getting an amazing view of the NYC skyline.  https://www.centralparknyc.org/

No Sleeping in this City! I hope this post helped you plan your next trip there!
